Why EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique.
Imagine living without anxiety

EFT is a powerful self-help method based on clinical research that shows emotional trauma contributes greatly to disease. Energy psychology theory suggests that psychological problems are a reflection of disturbed bio-energetic patterns within the mind-body system.

EFT uses elements of Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy, and combines them with Acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on 12 particular acupuncture points.

Clinical trials have shown that EFT tapping is able to rapidly reduce the emotional impact of memories and incidents that trigger emotional distress. Once the distress is reduced or removed, the body can often rebalance itself, and accelerate healing.

Over 100 papers published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals, including dozens of clinical trials, have demonstrated that EFT is effective for phobias, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, pain, and other problems.

The body ‘remembers’ it’s experiences in life and reacts to what is ‘learned’.  A negative early childhood memory eg: falling off a swing when being pushed high, may cause a fear of heights or swings

The unconscious mind holds that emotional reaction of fear and because it has the job of keeping us safe will react to a similarly presented heights event, the body immediately ‘reliving’  the same emotional fear sensations.

This learning is useful for being cautious when crossing the road,  touching hot object etc; however if you have learnt that you can’t do anything acceptable to get your parents approval, it may lead to being triggered by similar events throughout life in relationships and career, where your left feeling inadequate or not worthy.

My passion and interest is to work with those seeking to change bad habits and negative thoughts. To arm them with skills that will assist them to work through their emotional distress, taking control and lead healthier well balance lives
Gary Craig ( founder of EFT ) offers these explanations of Emotional Freedom Techniques
  •  EFT is like systematic desensitization except that it is much gentler and often faster

  • EFT blends perfectly with cognitive behavioural therapy because it helps bring up the issues faster and creates more ( and deeper ) cognitive shifts behind the scenes

  • EFT is like talk therapy with the advantage that it allows us to get to the issues faster and resolve them more thoroughly

  • EFT enhances chiropractic work by allowing the inclusion of important emotional issues and the integration of the body’s subtle energies
